SY25-26 Indoor Walking - Halls & Indoor TrackFacility WalkingSY25-26 Indoor Walking Use the Pequot Lakes Public High School facility and get some exercise! Our climate controlled facilities are a great option for walking/running, regardless of the weather or temperature. Both our halls and walking track are available to the public. Walking is available M-F, both before and after school, except on building closed days. Due to increased security measures at school, our morning hall walkers will need a background check and an access fob to enter the building. The fee for this background check is built into the registration cost for walking our facilities. The door access fob will be given out after successful completion of a background check, which will be emailed to participants after registering. Below are the locations and times available for walking: Pequot Lakes High School Halls: M - F | 6:15 - 7:30 AM AND 3:30 - 9:00 PM Pequot Lakes High School Indoor Track: 5:30 - 9:00 PM - *Please note, when JV/Varsity events are held in the gymnasium you must purchase a ticket to the event in order to use the track. Morning Hall Walking fee: $25 * Requires a fob for building access and a background check. Please register through Community Education prior to attending. School Readiness (4 & 5 year olds)A drop-off preschool program for children ages 4 & 5 years old that prepares children to enter school with the necessary skills, behaviors and stability they need to progress and flourish. *Please note, we reserve the right to move a child from one class to another to accommodate classroom needs. *When you are registering, there will be a one time registration fee of $30; you will also need to be prepared to provide (upload) copies of: Child’s birth certificate Child's immunization records Proof of income for any reduced payment request Examples of proof of income to upload: Most current Income Tax Statement for all adults in household (page with line 9 on the 1040 form) Most recent past 2 months pay stubs When you submit your registration, you will receive an email notifying you that your contract is waiting for staff approval. Self Defense for Kids & Adults - Jiu Jitsu & Striking (Ages 4 & Up)FitnessSelf Defense for Kids & Adults - Jiu Jitsu & Striking (Ages 4 & Up) World Karate and Kickboxing champions Sensei Lizzie and Sensei Brent will be teaching the most valuable lessons in self defense a person can learn: pragmatic communication, groundwork, and hand techniques to escape life-changing situations. Students leave class having thought through scenarios that they potentially could find themselves in, preparing what they would do ahead of time, so they have a basis of knowledge not to be the victim of harassment or violent crime. The session will end with a certificate graduation where students demo with a class partner what they have learned. This class helps students mentally prepare for challenging situations ahead of time so they know what they would do if cornered or approached. Skijoring Experience (Ages 6 & Up)RecreationStrap on your skis and join in the fun as we tack up the horses, and experience skijoring! You’ll experience being pulled by the horses on over 1/4 mile of groomed track. Participants will take turns throughout the session. Speech 6th GradeEnrichmentSpeech is a fun opportunity for students to develop communication skills, critical thinking and social emotional learning. Participants will gain knowledge in: Communication principles Public speaking Group discussions Role-playing Interpersonal communication Non-verbal communication All of these will play important roles in your life. Season runs January 5 - March 13. Practices will be at a minimum one day per week; the schedule will be based on student availability from 3:25 - 5:00 PM. There will likely be 5 meets (including a home meet) that students will attend. Meets typically start around 3:30/4 PM. Transportation will be provided from PLHS to meet location and back.
