This class involves hitting targets such as mitts with gloves, heavy bag workouts, and endurance training. The main focus of this class is on improving endurance, reaction, and speed. Individuals will learn basic fundamentals of footwork, offense, and defense. Both boxing and kickboxing will be incorporated into this class. The goal for the end result is a great work out and an even greater community of people who enjoy being together. Editorial board and writing positions to be selected on the first night of class. Self Defense for Kids & Adults - Jiu Jitsu & Striking (Ages 4 & Up)FitnessSelf Defense for Kids & Adults - Jiu Jitsu & Striking (Ages 4 & Up) World Karate and Kickboxing champions Sensei Lizzie and Sensei Brent will be teaching the most valuable lessons in self defense a person can learn: pragmatic communication, groundwork, and hand techniques to escape life-changing situations. Students leave class having thought through scenarios that they potentially could find themselves in, preparing what they would do ahead of time, so they have a basis of knowledge not to be the victim of harassment or violent crime. The session will end with a certificate graduation where students demo with a class partner what they have learned. This class helps students mentally prepare for challenging situations ahead of time so they know what they would do if cornered or approached. Mini Monet's (Ages 7 - 15)Arts & CraftsMini Monet’s (Ages 7 - 15) Have you ever wanted to give the gift of love? In this class, you can learn how! Each session is dedicated to the creation of heartfelt and handmade gifts throughout that correlate with the season. Example: Valentine’s Day gift making includes beautiful watercolor antique “puzzle purse” letters and miniature scrapbooks. Easter activities will vary and include handmade cards and gifts perfect for any Easter basket. Students will also learn basic sketching and painting techniques: a variety of brushstrokes, basic color theory, and visual focus throughout the sessions. Sign up for one or for all! Homeschool Co-Op (Grades K - 12)EnrichmentHomeschool Co-Op (Grades K - 12) Are you a homeschooling family looking for a place to enjoy instructor-led group art, music, martial arts, gymnastics, science, and Spanish? Students have flexible class options and can pick up to 3 three classes to attend, with the option of switching classes at the beginning of each new session. Each day will consist of (3) 30 minute classes, with a 30 minute lunch break. This is a great way to complement existing homeschool studies allowing students to share & create for themselves in a group setting all while sharing a love for learning! Topics include: Art: sketched line drawing, painting on canvas, face painting, clay, and art history - Music - led by Pequot Lakes music teacher Barbara Haney - music literacy and piano - learn to play piano for enjoyment!
