Track & Field 5th-6th Grade Girls & Boys

Our 5th–6th Grade Track & Field program introduces students to the fundamentals of running, jumping, and throwing in a fun, supportive, and encouraging environment. Participants will learn proper techniques for sprints, distance running, relays, long jump, and basic field events while building strength, endurance, coordination, and confidence. This program focuses on skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal goal-setting.  Athletes will be encouraged to challenge themselves, celebrate progress, and support their teammates.

5th - 6th grade athletes will practice together. The goal is to have 3 - 4 meets to attend (parents are responsible for transportation to & from meets).  Away meets may require students to get out of school early; this is an EXCUSED absence for them. Parents/Guardians are responsible for transportation to the meets.  *Carpooling is a great option!

There will typically be 3 practices each week; meets will take the place of a practice. A full schedule will be provided once meets are confirmed. Pequot Lakes will host at least ONE home meet for 5th - 6th grade track & field participants.

There will be a MANDATORY parent/guardian + athlete meeting on Monday, March 30 after practice (at 5 PM).

A sports physical is NOT required for 5th-6th grade participants.  

A jersey will be provided for use during the season; participants must provide their own shorts, and running shoes.

**Participation in 5th-6th grade track & field will have minimal conflicts with YS Softball or Baseball
